This is a competence-based qualification for working pipefitters. You must be employed to enrol — we operate an experienced worker route only.
Your assessor gathers evidence through site visits or remote video sessions, plus a knowledge workbook completed at your own pace. Everything is managed through our online e-portfolio system.
The qualification is assessed in line with the Construction Skills Consolidated Assessment Strategy and internally verified by an experienced, qualified assessor.

Who this qualification is designed for
This Level 3 Diploma is for experienced pipefitters who independently install, assemble, test, and mark out pipework systems on UK construction sites.
This NVQ is for you if you:
- Work as an experienced pipefitter or mechanical pipework installer on UK construction sites
- Can independently position, install, assemble, and test pipework to specification
- Want to prove your competence and get the JIB Mechanical Pipefitter Gold CSCS card
- Want to keep earning while you qualify — no time off the tools
Entry Requirements
There are no formal academic entry requirements. You must be currently working within the construction industry in a pipework installation role.
We conduct an initial assessment of your skills and knowledge before enrolment to identify any gaps and plan the most efficient assessment route.
