Is This Right for You?
Who this qualification is designed for

The Level 7 NVQ is the highest construction management qualification — for directors, senior managers, and those leading multiple projects or managing other managers.

This NVQ is for you if you:

  • Hold a senior management or director-level role in construction
  • Manage other managers and oversee multiple projects or programmes
  • Are involved in commercial strategy, tender implications, and ethical decision-making
  • Want the Black Manager CSCS card at the highest qualification level
  • Want to strengthen your route to MCIOB Chartered membership

Entry Requirements

Candidates should be working in a senior management role in construction — building & civil engineering, highways, residential development, conservation, or demolition. You should have experience managing other site managers and overseeing commercial and tender processes.

We conduct an initial skills assessment to help identify your current knowledge and any gaps, allowing us to tailor the assessment process to your needs.

Already hold a Level 6 NVQ? This is the natural next step. Your existing qualification may count as RPL, reducing your completion time.

Frequently Asked
Got questions?

Here are the most common ones. If yours isn't here, WhatsApp us.

What card will I get after completing this qualification?+
On completion of the NVQ Level 7 Diploma in Construction Senior Management, you can apply for the Manager (Black) CSCS card. This is the highest management-level CSCS card and proves your competence at the highest management level in UK construction.
What is the free MCIOB review?+
Every Level 7 candidate at 027 Construction Training receives a free MCIOB (Member of the Chartered Institute of Building) review and sign-off. This helps you prepare for CIOB membership and supports your route to Chartered status.
What is RPL and how can it speed things up?+
RPL stands for Recognition of Prior Learning. If you already hold a Level 6 NVQ, SMSTS, or other relevant qualifications, parts of those can be mapped against the Level 7 units — meaning less evidence to gather and a faster completion. Your assessor will review your existing qualifications during the initial assessment and advise how much can be carried forward.
How long does it take to complete?+
Most candidates complete in 8 to 12 weeks. If you hold existing qualifications or have extensive senior management evidence, RPL (Recognition of Prior Learning) can reduce this further. Your assessor will advise during the initial assessment.
Do I need the Level 6 NVQ first?+
There are no formal entry requirements. However, you should be working at senior management level — managing other managers, overseeing multiple projects, and involved in commercial strategy. Many candidates hold the Level 6 NVQ already, which can count as RPL towards the Level 7.
What evidence do I need to provide?+
Evidence includes project documentation you already produce: Risk Assessments and Method Statements (RAMS), meeting minutes, board reports, tender documentation, strategic plans, team development records, and similar. Your assessor will guide you on exactly what's needed during your initial assessment.
Can I be assessed remotely?+
Yes. 027 Construction Training carries out assessments remotely across the whole UK. Professional discussions are conducted via Zoom or Teams, and project documentation is uploaded through our e-portfolio system.
Can my employer claim a CITB grant?+
Yes. CITB-registered employers can usually claim a grant towards the NVQ. As a CITB Approved Training Organisation, we guide your employer through the grant claim process.
