What this qualification covers
The Level 2 NVQ Diploma in Ductwork Installation is a competence-based qualification, assessed in a real-world setting to confirm you can handle the day-to-day demands of ductwork installation on site.
Health, Safety and Welfare on Site
Demonstrate safe working practices in line with current health and safety regulations across the construction environment.
Effective Working Relationships
Communicate clearly with colleagues, supervisors, and other trades to keep ductwork installation running smoothly.
Moving, Handling and Storing Resources
Move ductwork sections, fittings, insulation, and tools safely on site and store them correctly for use.
Installing Ductwork Systems
Install rectangular, circular, and flat-oval ductwork to specification, including supports, brackets, and hangers.
Installing Ductwork Ancillaries
Fit dampers, grilles, diffusers, access panels, flexible connections, and other ancillary ductwork components.
Testing and Commissioning
Carry out pressure testing, leakage testing, and basic commissioning checks to confirm system performance.

Show that you can correctly install and test fire dampers to meet safety and building regulations, including the BESA DW/145 specification.
Pressure Testing
Verify the integrity of installed ductwork by checking for leaks and confirming the system performs to its design pressure class.
Airflow Measurement
Test and adjust airflow on installed ductwork to meet HVAC specifications and confirm energy-efficient performance.

This NVQ is for you if you:
- Work as a ductfitter or HVAC installer on UK construction sites
- Have at least 1 year of experience in ductwork installation
- Want your Blue CSCS Skilled Worker card to prove competence
- Are looking to progress towards supervisory or management roles in ductwork and HVAC systems
- Want to keep earning while you qualify — no time off the tools
Entry Requirements
To enrol on this course, candidates must:
- Be 19 years of age or older
- Have at least 1 year of experience in ductwork installation within a construction environment
- Be able to access a live site environment for evidence gathering
