Use hand tools to shape pipework components accurately and safely by material removal.
Support the Assembly of Pipework Components
Assist with assembling pipework systems including joints, fittings, and connections.
Support the Positioning and Installation
Help position and install pipework components to specification on site.

This is a competence-based qualification. You demonstrate your skills and knowledge through real workplace evidence — not written tests.
Your assessor gathers evidence through site visits or remote video sessions, plus a written workbook you complete at your own pace. Everything is managed through our online e-portfolio system.
The qualification is assessed in line with the Construction Skills Consolidated Assessment Strategy and internally verified by an experienced, qualified assessor.

Who this qualification is designed for
If you're already working in pipework installation and need formal proof of your competence, this NVQ is for you.
This NVQ is for you if you:
- Work as a pipefitter, pipe lagger, or mechanical pipework installer on UK construction sites
- Want to prove your competence and get your Blue CSCS skilled worker card
- Need a regulated qualification recognised by employers and site managers
- Want to keep earning while you qualify — no time off the tools
- Are looking to progress towards Level 3 and supervisory roles
Entry Requirements
There are no formal academic entry requirements. You must be:
- Currently working in the construction industry in a pipework-related role
- Able to access a real site environment for evidence gathering
- Aged 19 or older
