This is a competence-based qualification assessed through real-world evidence from your current role. You must be employed in a construction management role to enrol — we operate an experienced worker route only.
Your assessor gathers evidence through your existing project documentation, professional discussions (recorded), and a knowledge workbook. Everything is managed through our online e-portfolio system.
Assessment is conducted in line with the Construction Skills Consolidated Assessment Strategy and internally verified by an experienced, qualified assessor.

Who this qualification is designed for
The Level 6 NVQ is for experienced construction contracting operations managers overseeing commercial and operational functions.
This NVQ is for you if you:
- Manage contracting operations in construction — estimating, buying, planning, surveying, or general management
- Oversee teams, commercial processes, and operational decisions
- Chair meetings, manage team performance, and maintain H&S systems
- Want the Black Manager CSCS card to prove senior-level competence
- Want to progress towards MCIOB membership or Chartered status
Entry Requirements
Candidates should be employed in a construction management role. There are no formal academic entry requirements, but you must be working in the industry.
We conduct an initial skills assessment to help identify your current knowledge and any gaps, allowing us to tailor the assessment process to your needs.
